Nowadays, many of us are home-bound, so why not take this time to make some simple, affordable upgrades to your living space? Here are five projects that you can do today that will have a big impact on your home without breaking the bank.
First, declutter. You’ll be surprised how much more spacious and inviting your living area can look with just a few simple edits. Start by clearing surfaces of things you don’t need like old magazines, knickknacks, etc. Make it a habit to regularly clean out drawers and closets that you haven’t touched in a while. You don’t have to get rid of everything– just passing through it every now and then can make a huge difference.
Second, paint. A fresh coat of paint is an easy, quick, and inexpensive way to lift the atmosphere of a room. Not only that, but accents like an accent wall will create an instant focal point and inject personality into a room. Mix and match colours to create a unique look!
Third, revamp the lighting. Lighting can make or break the ambience of a room. A combination of floor lamps, pendant lights, table lamps, and wall sconces can give a room a much-needed pick-me-up with minimal effort.
Fourth, get creative with shelving. Wall shelves are great for organizing and displaying small items. If you don’t have the budget to purchase premium shelves, opt for the DIY route and let your creativity shine instead of buying standard shelf units.
Fifth, repurpose old furniture. No need to buy new furniture if you already have pieces that are just lying around–sometimes, all it takes is a few coats of paint and some imagination to transform them.
All these home improvement projects don’t require you to be an expert and a lot of the materials you’ll need are readily available from your local hardware store. So why not take advantage of this time around the house and get to updating and enhancing your living space!
